Introduction
The diagram illustrates the basic internet configuration.
When you implement your domain(s) in a dedicated Internet server
the domain, or server, programming is contained in the server.
The internet server Interfaces your in-house terminals and you computers
to the internet. The in-house terminals and systems are usually
interconnected via a Local Area Network (LAN). This configuration
is sometimes refired to as an Intranet.
At the remote location(s) which are connected via the internet,
the terminal/computer interface programming is provide
by an internet browser, as provided by Netscape or Microsoft.
You have three choices in the implementation
of your internet server and it deals with where
the server is placed and who owns it. The choices
are:
- At a remote location at a hosting company.
In this case your domain(s) is not the only one
supported by the internet server.
The internet server is owned by the hosting company.
This configuration is called
"Web Site Hosting".
Web Site Hosting
is described and made available to you in a previous
section.
- At a remote location, at the hosting company,
and the internet server is dedicated to only your
domain(s). The internet server can be owned by
you or the hosting company. This configuration
is called Dedicated Servers.
- At your facility and it is owned by you.
This is simply called an Internet Server.
It can be collocated or directly connected to the internet
backbone network. With collocated you still are connected
to the hosting company. This is described and made available
to you in another section called Networks.
We provide solution for each of these three choices. A description
and cost is provide in the following descriptions.
Dedicated Servers
We only supply dedicated servers that
are owned by our hosting company.
Following is a technical description of
each available dedicated server as well as the cost.
